"The devil approached him and said . . ."
This First Sunday of Lent is rich with meaning and invites us into our spiritual desert of 40 days with Jesus. The prideful original choice to defy the command of God is presented in Genesis. But, God offers hope as Christ himself, in the desert, wrestles with Satan the "father of lies" and force behind evil in the world. From the beginning, Jesus wins the battle for love is always more powerful than hate; truth more mighty than falsehood. Above is a link to a good reflection on this Sunday. I leave my earlier posts here for further thought. The readings for this Sunday can be found by clicking on the picture above entitled, "A look at Sunday Scriptures."
We begin a parish Lenten mission here this weekend which will conclude on Wednesday evening. We join everyone in prayer and reflection. As pilgrims, we find ourselves in communion with Christ and one another.
Lord our God,
you formed man from the clay of the earth
and breathed into him the spirit of life,
but he turned from your face and sinned.
In this time of repentance
we call out for your mercy.
Bring us back to you
and to the life your Son won for us
by his death on the cross,
for he lives and reigns for ever and ever.

A blessed journey to all! More will come . . .
