In light of the tragic and unprecedented persecution of Christians around the world and in particular those driven out of Mosul, Iraq, we must pray in solidarity with our Holy Father Pope Francis and all people of good will everywhere. Mosul, rich in Biblical history both Old and New Testaments, has not been without a Christian presence since the first century of Christianity. Let us pray:
O God, who in your inscrutable providence
will that the Church be united
to the sufferings of your Son,
grant, we pray,
to your faithful who suffer for your name's sake
a sprit of patience and charity,
that they may be found true and faithful witnesses
to the promises you have made.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
